Sonar, side imaging and GPS have become the norm in fishing boats. Still, many folks struggle to maximize their value in fishing because they don’t fully understand how to set them up or what they’re seeing on the screen. If you’d like to learn to get the most out of your boat’s electronics, join FTTV host Chad LaChance and fellow Fishful Thinker guide Dan Swanson for their On-The-Water Sonar class. Dan is a former electrical engineer and one of the country’s leading experts on fishing electronics. Classes take place in their new Ranger bass boats equipped with the latest technologies and are limited to four students per boat. The class is about three hours long with the first hour being mostly lecture on set-up and use, and the last two driving around looking at structure and cover explaining what is being displayed and how various settings affect it. The boats utilize Lowrance electronics, but the information is mostly applicable across all brands. This is a very personal, hands on class and we encourage students to bring their own boats to fish afterwards if they’d like.
